The Championship Course in Incline Village is a par 72 course of 7100 yards that flows down a gentle slope toward the lake, providing majestic views. The front nine are cut out of some thick forest with tight fairways requiring accuracy and distance. The back nine are a little more open and forgiving. You can work on your short game at the chipping green — with a bunker and putting green — or practice your long shots at the 28-stall driving range with five targets ranging from 40 to 200 yards. Since 1972, the Northstar California Resort has drawn winter sports enthusiasts to the area. Twenty different lifts provide access to some 100 trails on more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. The majority of the trails are designed for intermediate level skiers, while about a quarter of them are for advanced skiers and the remainder are just right for beginners. Speaking of beginners, Northstar offers schooling in both skiing and boarding. Fun in the snow at the Northstar California Resort also includes telemark skiing, tubing and cross-country skiing. The resort also offers eight terrain parks. But Northstar isn't just about the wintertime. Year-round amenities include a skating rink, a bungie trampoline, lodging, dining and a wide range of shopping at the Village. Guests at Northstar lodging also have access to the swim and racquet club including outdoor spas and heated lap pool, saunas and teen and fitness centers. In the summer, a whole new world of fun opens up. The ice rink changes over to a roller skating rink, visitors can enjoy an 18-hole golf course, there are some 10 courts available for those who enjoy tennis and fly fishing is available in the Sawmill Lake. And the Northstar California Resort is the site of one of the best lift-served mountain bike parks in the nation, with 52 trails providing more than 100 miles of biking fun.

Northstar California Resort Is Conveniently Located

Located between the High Sierra mountain town of Truckee and Lake Tahoe, the Northstar California Resort is easy to get to whether you are driving from the Golden State of California or the Silver State of Nevada. And if you are lucky enough to be flying in, the airports in Sacramento and Reno are both served by commercial airlines, while the Truckee Tahoe Airport is just 5 miles from the resort.

Tahoe City Golf Course is a 9-hole course (with a par of 33) that has character and stellar views of Lake Tahoe. The history of the course began back in 1917 when England's famous golfer May "Queenie" Dunn was commissioned to create a course on the then-famous Tahoe Tavern resort property. As one of the first courses in the United States to be designed by a woman, it began a heritage that runs deep. Later it became a favorite golf course for Frank Sinatra and other members of the Rat Pack. The course is laid out over flat terrain and is excellent for the beginner yet challenging enough for the expert. The course has a popular restaurant that serves a full breakfast menu as well as grilled items, hamburgers, salads and tacos. In the winter the course becomes an easy cross-country trail.

Tahoe Donner offers scores of amenities to its homeowner members, and the crown jewel is the championship golf course. What makes the 18-hole course even more special is that it’s also open to the public. Set on 200 acres of high-elevation, pine-shrouded beauty, the 7002-yard, par 72 course is open from spring to fall. But the fun no longer stops when the snow starts to fall, as Tahoe Donner now has a new Winter Golf Academy that offers virtual golf via a high-definition, interactive, 142-inch screen. The academy offers coaching, swing analysis and an adjacent pub all winter. When the weather is warm Tahoe Donner has a driving range and PGA teaching pros available for private lessons.
