As with so many businesses on South Shore, the site of the Rock House Ski and Board Shop has a fascinating history. Constructed in the 1930s and '40s out of — what else? — large stones, this building first served as a home then later as a television repair shop. Now a family-owned and -operated snow sports shop, the Rock House has rental packages and used equipment sales as well a full tune-up service. If you need your rental for two or more days, you can reserve the equipment ahead of time. This shop is also particularly beginner-friendly and has a lot of good resources for those new to the snow. Their online presence reflects their outstanding customer service.
