South Lake Tahoe real estate can be particularly confusing to a newcomer or an outsider. This is because the phrase South Lake Tahoe is often used to encompass the entire south half of Lake Tahoe, from Glenbrook on the east to Emerald Bay in the southwest corner. The phrase South Shore is often employed to differentiate this region (which spans two states) from the City of South Lake Tahoe, which is on the California side of the state line and is the lake's largest municipality. All that being said, South Lake Tahoe real estate includes homes in Meyers and Christmas Valley to the west, in the aforementioned city as well as the unincorporated areas of California's Eldorado County, to Stateline, Kingsbury, Zephyr Cove and Glenbrook on the Nevada side. South Lake Tahoe real estate options range from high-end mansions perched among the mountain peaks or tucked along the lakeshore all the way to convenience studio apartments and classic ski condos converted to real property. There are homes adjacent to the marinas, homes next to mountain meadows and numerous cozy little neighborhoods hidden among the pines. In other words, the range of options at Lake Tahoe's South Shore is wide and varied, offering some sort of home or housing for practically everyone.
