McP’s TapHouse Grill is one of those places that, while being new and shiny and oh-so-very hip, actually has a very storied history. In 1992 it was McP’s Pub Tahoe (an expansion of Coronado’s McP’s Irish Pub) on the south side of Lake Tahoe Boulevard. In 2001 a construction project required the pub’s relocation, so it moved almost directly across the street. Then in 2014 yet another project resulted in another move. With a new name and a new location practically right on the state line, the TapHouse is a stunning incarnation of an old Tahoe favorite and huge, too, at 6,000 square feet. The outside is neon and timber, while the inside offers 20 big screens and 40 beers on tap. There’s live music nightly, and the outdoor dining patio is pet-friendly. The TapHouse also has a banquet room available for large parties or corporate meetings.
