Spindleshanks Restaurant is housed in a modern lodge on the Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach. Decks out back and around the side provide alfresco dining with a view of the golf course. Inside it’s cozy and light with high ceilings, wood floors and a couple of fireplaces. Dinner options are eclectic with oysters, Berkshire pork shank and nightly seafood specials. Notables are the Asian spring rolls and Seafood Linguini that comes with mussels, calamari, scallops, fresh fish, prawns, garlic, tomato and cream. Coffeebar is a radically inclusive, Italian-inspired roastery and community cafe. They have three locations in Truckee (the original location in historic Downtown Truckee, the Coffeebar Bakery in West Truckee and a location at Northstar) as well as a location in the village at Palisades Tahoe. They have two locations in Reno (including their roastery) as well as a stores in the Bay Area in Menlo Park, Redwood City and Sunnyvale. The Downtown Truckee location is a bustling indoor-outdoor meeting place, and the West Truckee Bakery is where the baking goodness happens daily. The Palisades location has breathtaking views of Red Dog and KT-22, with a large mountain-facing patio. Coffeebar offers a variety of Italian-inspired espresso and specialty coffee drinks and teas as well as an afternoon selection of craft beer and Italian wines. The Coffeebar menu includes a variety of homemade pastries and fresh local food including breakfast burritos, paleo bowls, breakfast panini and seasonal specialties. All stores offer gluten-free, paleo and vegan options. Coffeebar features a large selection of freshly roasted coffee from their roastery in Reno. Local favorites include their long-standing espresso (Zephyr) and dark roast (Giuseppe) as well as a constantly changing fleet of single-origin coffees and espresso. In addition to regular events, including live music and coffee and wine tastings, the walls of the bright, well-lit spaces are adorned with a rotating selection of local art. There is free WiFi at all locations.
