OK, a peanut butter omelette may cause a breakfast connoisseur’s face to blanch, but Squeeze In on Truckee’s historic Commercial Row has so many creative omelette combos even the most discerning eater will eventually land on a satisfying choice. The cozy confines and exploded yard-sale decor of the Squeeze In (much of which is brought in by customers) matches the menu and the upbeat personalities of the staff. Omelettes on the menu have backstories reflected in their names. Try the Dirty Dick, a.k.a. Filthy Richard, or the Racy Tracy … you get the picture. For those looking for something other than omelettes, there are pancakes, French toast, eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, scrambles and vegan fare. Don’t be surprised to find a wait for a table on holiday mornings in the winter or on weekends in the summer. Have patience, as there’s a reason for the wait. That said, Squeeze In does do lunch if waiting for breakfast isn’t an option.
