Off the Hook is one of the higher-end sushi restaurants in the basin, but it has a fun, casual and high-energy atmosphere. It is almost exactly in the middle of the City of South Lake Tahoe, and its offerings range outside of the items one would find in a more traditional sushi bar. The business prides itself not only on a fresh take on sushi, but also in providing fresh foods all across the menu, with homemade sauces, premium ingredients and quality-inspected fish. Off the Hook has more than 40 rolls to choose from, but in honor of one of the South Shore's favorite activities, you really should try the one called the Gambler. Pair your dinner with a selection from the large sake list, and top it off with something from the dessert menu, perhaps the Tempura Ice Cream.
