Here's our hiking report: This is absolutely the perfect time to go for a hike. A light jacket with layers is ideal for the crisp air and warm rays. Wildflowers are abundant and here to play. Can you find these ??

Our heroes! State park maintenance and forestry crews are working overtime clearing the trails and service roads into Emerald Bay! Keeping our fingers crossed for a Saturday opening of the Vikingsholm Visitor Center and Vikingsholm tours. Hellman-Ehrman Mansion tours and the Sugar Pine Point State Park Visitor Center also open Saturday! Campground openings are still delayed for another two weeks or so.

Happy Earth Day! ? In honor of, here is a earthly reminder on how to recreate responsibly:

1️⃣ Plan Ahead & Prepare - regulations, weather, and hazards. Visit in small groups.
2️⃣ Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces - good campsites are found, not made.
3️⃣ Dispose of Waste Properly - pack it in, pack it out.
4️⃣ Leave What You Find - preserve and avoid introducing non-native species.
5️⃣ Minimize Campfire Impact - opt for a lightweight stove and battery-powered lamps, or use established fire rings.
6️⃣ Respect Wildlife - observe from a distance and don't feed them. Control pets or leave them at home.
7️⃣ Be Considerate of Other Visitors - yield to others on the trails. Avoid loud voices and noises.

Don't miss the last Full Moon Snowshoe Tour of the year this April 1st! See Lake Tahoe and Sugar Pine Point State Park in a whole new light, after hours! State Park staff will be leading this nighttime guided snowshoe tour exploring the natural and cultural history around the Hellman-Ehrman estate and Lake Tahoe shoreline in Sugar Pine Point State Park. Beginner clinic available too.
