If you like the idea of living at Lake Tahoe but don't like the idea of paying the sorts of home prices commanded by properties at Olympic Valley or Incline Village, then you might want to take a look at North Shore and Kings Beach real estate. It's not necessarily cheap to buy a house in this area (it is California, after all), but homes can be had for significantly less money than some of the surrounding markets will demand. North Shore and Kings Beach real estate is also attractive because you have both lakefront properties and forested neighborhoods. The homes that are built among the pines are also very often within walking distance of Lake Tahoe. Living at Tahoe's North Shore also puts you close to all the outdoor recreation that makes the region such a vacation destination. Four different ski areas are a short drive away, and several others are just a bit farther down the road. Beaches and marinas are scattered along the lake, and all of the North Shore and Kings Beach real estate is no more than a minute or two from some of the Sierra's best mountain biking and hiking. And when you include the shops and attractions along North Lake Boulevard, you'll understand why tourists flock here.
Schools in the North Shore and Kings Beach Real Estate Area
As with all the north and west areas of Lake Tahoe in California, the public schools in the North Shore and Kings Beach real estate area fall under the jurisdiction of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Among these schools is a neighborhood elementary school in Kings Beach, but older students attend the North Tahoe School middle school and North Tahoe High School, both in nearby Tahoe City.
