Please note Tahoe Forest Hospital is currently experiencing a large volume of phone calls regarding COVID-19 testing. We appreciate your patience, and we apologize that you may experience a longer than usual wait time due to the influx of phone calls we are receiving.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT TAHOE FOREST HOSPITAL TO INQUIRE ABOUT TESTING SERVICES. If you have an emergency, please do come to our emergency room located at Tahoe Forest Hospital, 10121 Pine Avenue, Truckee, CA. Please be advised that Emergency Department staff cannot provide medical advice over the phone.

For asymptomatic COVID testing, you must use the free COVID testing site available by an independent company (not Tahoe Forest Health System) at the Old Gateway Center at 10990 Donner Pass Road. Testing is free, and it’s not necessary to have symptoms in order to receive a test.

If you are symptomatic and are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, or diarrhea, please call the Tahoe Forest Health System COVID-19 Hotline at (530) 582-3450, from 9 am - 4 pm, 7 days a week.

Tahoe Forest Health System is pleased to announce that Jake Dorst, Chief Information and Innovation Officer, was recently named to the 102 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know 2021 list by Becker's Hospital Review. The list features some of the most impressive health IT leaders who lead technology and health IT initiatives for hospitals and health systems across the country.
Mr. Dorst has led the IT department at Tahoe Forest Health System since September 2014. Under his leadership, Tahoe Forest Health System successfully transitioned to a single electronic health record platform, providing better coordinated care, and modernized its infrastructure, improving the network performance across the health system’s two hospitals and multiple specialty clinics.
The CIOs featured on the Becker’s list oversee electronic health records installations, cybersecurity, data management and telemedicine services- many who have built robust IT departments and teams. These leaders have received recognition by organizations such as the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

PAs are medical professionals who diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as principal healthcare providers for patients. With many hours of general medicine training, PAs can provide a wide spectrum of patient care. Practicing in every medical setting and specialty, PAs improve healthcare access and quality, and are vital to addressing the shortage of healthcare providers nationwide, especially in rural areas where shortages are prominent.
