When one of the greatest – and free! – amenities Tahoe restaurants have to offer their patrons is the world-renowned view, it stands to reason that outdoor dining is a thing here. Many Tahoe restaurants will have porch areas that are heated, extending their season.

The Village at Palisades Tahoe
Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) is known as a breeding ground for extreme athletes of downhill skiing. One of the forefathers, Shane McConkey, grew up on the slopes of Squaw. He helped to change the face of skiing as we know it today by inventing the rocker aspect that we see on most downhill skis in current production. The Palisades Tahoe community, and world at large, lost Shane McConkey to a BASE jumping accident in 2009. In respect to Shane and his innovation to the sport of skiing as well as other heroes of Palisades Tahoe who have influenced skiing as we know it today, Palisades Tahoe decided to create a restaurant in homage to these skiing heroes. It came in the form of Rocker Restaurant. You can get involved by giving money to the McConkey Foundation by purchasing a commemorative Shane glass or by involving yourself in the endless ski banter that happens every day during après-ski hour. Rocker also has prime seating for watching skiers and snowboarders coming off the mountain, making it supreme for keeping an eye out for a Palisades Tahoe heroes in the flesh. In addition to being a magnet for heroes, Rocker is also known as the best sports bar in the Village. In the summer the Rocker stays lively with its outdoor seating and central location for summertime festivals.
