We are educators, scientists, and community members with a mission to foster curiosity through science. We engage students’ natural curiosity, guiding them to design and perform experiments that answer their own questions through the scientific method. We call this process Student Driven Research.

We aim to create informed citizens who not only pursue science careers, but blossom when faced with opportunities to positively impact society through engagement, curiosity, and applications of the scientific method. To do this, we teach programs for science classes at schools, at our northern California field site, and online. 

Since 2014 Headwaters has strived to help kids not only understand how to do research but to access the confidence to complete research independently and to ask questions about the natural world. With a mission of fostering curiosity through science, it is our hope that students will not only become intrigued by these scientific discoveries but will begin to question the greater world around them. We aim to create informed citizens who blossom when faced with opportunities to positively impact society through engagement, curiosity, and applications of the scientific method.

Operation Sierra Storm is a Leading National Weather Conference. A cutting-edge meteorological forum and seminar for network television meteorologist from around that country. Featuring leading scientists and experts discussing newsworthy topics, trends for today and the future. A combination of on-going education, networking opportunities and live-broadcasts make OSS an industry leader.

The Sierra Valley Grange is an organization created to promote the political and economic well being of the local agriculture and community. Since 1931 the Grange building has been the host of many events from weddings to 4-H meetings to the annual Vinton Cowboy Poetry Show. Only 4 years after this building was built it had become the largest Grange in California. This organization has helped influence the development of electrical, road, and water systems of the rural portion of CA. From it's conception, the Grange has been a large supporter of Art, Agriculture and Education in its area and will continue to be with the support of the community.  

The Tahoe Fund was founded in 2010 as a registered non-profit corporation in the States of  Nevada and California. The purpose of the Tahoe Fund is to become a major source of private funding for environmental projects around the Lake Tahoe Basin with an emphasis on recreation, conservation and education.

The Tahoe Fund acts as a catalyst for bridging the funding gap. At the time the Tahoe Fund was established, there was and continues to be a gap between the existing environmental needs and the continued decline in public funding for Lake Tahoe. This kind of public-private collaboration sends an important message to the federal government and the state governments of California and Nevada that the private sector values and is financially committed to environmental restoration at Lake Tahoe, providing our political representatives the support they need for increased public funding.

The Tahoe Fund provides a common vision from which to build a sustainable future for this irreplaceable resource and for those who cherish and enjoy this mountain landscape. Lake Tahoe lies within two states, five counties and hosts an extensive network of local, state and federal agencies. Tahoe Fund programs directly benefit a population base of 53,000 full-time residents and 3 million annual visitors to the Basin.
