Ring in the New Year Truckee style with the help of fellow skiers and torches. On New Year’s Eve, intermediate skiers, ages 10 and older, line up at the Tahoe Donner Ski Area in Truckee to form a procession for the Tahoe Donner Torchlight Parade. When given the okay, the skiers take off, carrying their torches and forming a brightly lit parade that winds down the snowy slope. A DJ provided ski-worthy tunes, and snacks are offered in the bar area before the parade starts. Registration for this Lake Tahoe annual event is from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. on the day of the event. It’s a fun way to say goodbye to the year in the company of other skiing enthusiasts.
