This American bistro in Tahoe City gets its name from the Latin word sylva, meaning forest, and prides itself on offering down-to-earth fine casual dining. The seasonal shared plates menu at Sylva draws inspiration from global flavors and locally sourced ingredients when possible. This means the menu is always changing. Acclaimed chef Andrew Shimer is in the kitchen, and wood-fired cooking, both for meats and pizzas, is the norm. The wine list is short but perfectly well-rounded with quality offerings. Reservations are accepted, and walk-ins are welcome.
