Located across from the Loading Dock and tucked in amongst the bricks of historic downtown, the Old Town Tap features a wood-fired pizza oven and serves Neapolitan-style pizzas with a unique crust that is made with a wild yeast starter from right here in the Sierra. Not into pizza? No problem. The salads at this place are also special, as the chef works hand in hand with an area farm for locally sourced ingredients. Other must-tries on the menu are the chicken-fried cheese curds and the charcuterie and cheese plate. On the beverage side of things, the full bar along one whole side of the interior maintains the Old Town feel, and in addition to beers, wines and spirits that one would expect, the cocktails are worth special mention. (Ask about the "Yes Whey" cocktail … even if you don't end up drinking one, the story behind it is worth the telling.) Round it all out by relaxing on the brick patio looking out onto Donner Pass Road, and you've got a very popular lunch and dinner spot.
