Mofo’s Pizza in Christmas Tree Village has been locally owned and operated since 1986. Their decor is a nostalgic throwback to the days of red and white checked tablecloths and wood paneling. They use fresh toppings and ingredients, and the dough is made daily and hand-tossed for thin or extra-thin crusts. Pizzas range from vegetarian to barbecue chicken, or you can create your own from the wide variety of meat and vegetable toppings offered. There are also different sauces to chose from: barbecue, pesto, garlic and a red sauce. (The marinara recipe has its own unique history, having been brought back from Italy by a family patriarch after his P-38 was shot down there during World War II.) Calzones are also on the menu, as are dishes made with their homemade pasta such as lasagna, carbonara and spaghetti and meatballs. Gluten-free crusts are available for the mini pizzas. Mofo’s Pizza is open daily for dinner and Thursday through Saturday for lunch. Make sure you leave room for the homemade ice cream.
