Slap on your goggles, lace up your running shoes and buckle your bike helmet. The Donner Lake Triathlon is your chance to put those athletic abilities to the test. Whether you’re a child, just wanting to try a triathlon for fun or hope to compete at the Olympic level, Donner Lake Triathlon has a course for you. The courses vary in difficulty and length, and they include a Kids Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Olympic Triathlon, Half Triathlon and Aquabike Triathlon. The two-day event begins with a swim in Donner Lake then onto a bike ride along Old Highway 40 and concludes with a run to the finish line. Imagine making your way through the course as your fellow participants and volunteers cheer you on. The sun is shining, your adrenaline is pumping and the finish line is so close. Sounds like fun, right? There is a fee to compete in the different triathlons, so plan accordingly. This Lake Tahoe annual event takes place in late July.
