For years California Main Lodge was what came to mind when people mentioned Heavenly. And while the opening of the Gondola near Stateline means that not quite as many people make the driving trek up the long steep Ski Run Boulevard to the lodge, it is still a classic snow-sport site and well worth the visit. Here at the resort's original mountain base area there is access to terrain appropriate for skiers of all levels, and just about any sort of ski service is available. By way of the Gunbarrel Express or the Aerial Tram, visitors can get to any place on the mountain. There are two Heavenly Sports locations here, including a full rental and repair shop at Gunbarrel. The California Lodge food court offers traditional fare such as burgers, tacos and salads, and the California Bar has a nice drink and appetizer menu.
