If you’re visiting Truckee-Tahoe and don’t have time to get a workout in on the surrounding slopes and trails, The Bar Effect may be just the place for you. In about an hour the instructors will lead you and a small group through a total body workout aimed at increasing core strength for skiing, cycling, yoga and life in general using isometric movements set to music. The technique doesn’t utilize jumping or other impact movements. While exercises are low impact, the result of the workout definitely is not. Those interested in trying a class must register online and make a reservation. Along with the physical pluses, The Bar Effect classes are aimed at giving participants the mental lifts gained in yoga, which means no cell phones. Because classes are low impact, they are beneficial for people rehabbing injuries.
