Lake Tahoe is all about sports, and when it’s summertime and you’re in Tahoe City, conditions are pretty prime. One Lake Tahoe annual event that appeals to the most intense of athletes is the Adventure Sports Week, featuring the XTERRA Tahoe City Races. This event includes the Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Race, the Burton Creek Trail Run, XTERRA Tahoe City, XTERRA Tahoe City Sprint, the XTERRA Tahoe City Duathlon and the Tahoe City Swim. These triathlons and duathlon are for those who love not only swimming, biking and running but also Lake Tahoe’s diverse outdoor environment. The events start with a swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe. Participants then switch to a bike ride through Tahoe City’s woodsy mountain trails. The races conclude with a run that weaves the athletes back to the start/finish line at Commons Beach. Race in one of the events or compete in all of them – there’s no limit on how many events you do. The events are divided by age and gender. You can register for the races that pique your interest on the XTERRA Tahoe City Races’ website. So lace up your shoes or tighten your goggles, and get ready for a breathtaking athletic experience. This 10-day Lake Tahoe annual event usually takes place in late June.
