Since 1948 Sky Tavern ski area has hosted America’s oldest and largest non-profit ski and snowboard program for kids. Available to all children, including those from economically disadvantaged families and those with disabilities, the program is run entirely by volunteers, mostly parents, who instruct and work in supportive roles. The mission of Sky Tavern is to provide a safe and fun family environment in which kids may learn, develop confidence and gain a lifelong love of outdoor sports at a reasonable price.
With 150 acres and 900 vertical feet of alpine forest, Sky Tavern is more than just a winter destination. Summertime it turns to a mountain bike park with two advanced downhill trails, a dual slalom course and trails up to the Mount Rose summit and down to Galena Park. Sky Tavern also hosts a summer concert series, a summer camp for kids and weddings. You can have your guests ride the chairlift to the top of the hill for the ceremony and back down for a picturesque reception at the base lodge.
