I immediately liked the vibe and Mike's excellent humor to the degree I felt comfortable having my engagement ring resized and the prongs rebuilt by Mike. I am extremely picky regarding who works on my jewelry and especially my engagement ring which is 4ct square cushion with emerald baguettes and is obviously of great sentiment to me. Mike was able to fix my ring that day and he did a superb job. Not to mention, the jewelry for sale is absolutely gorgeous - I was drooling over several pieces and was able to drop many hints to my husband for Valentines Day ;). I'm August my wife and I visited Steve Schmier jewelry in Tahoe City. Wife expressed interest in a Lake Tahoe pendant. We spent some time talking to Michael Grant but decided not to purchase at that time. But Michael gave me his card before we left. No hard sell. No pressure.
In late October I called and ordered the pendant. It came in the mail a few days later. I gave it to my wife for xmas and she has worn it almost constantly ever since. She loves it. I feel I'm getting more bang per buck for that gift than pretty much anything I've given her over our entire marriage.

When I told a good friend about my goal of creating a ring, she referred me to her jewelry, Michael Grant, the owner of Steve Schmier’s Jewelry. He and his staff (Mary and Susan) create a friendly, comfortable, and fun atmosphere with excellent customer service.
I brought in two rings, of which I wanted specific stones to make a one-of-a-kind custom ring. I explained my vision to Michael, who gave me many creative and insightful ideas for showcasing the stones and creating my unique ring. He wanted to ensure I received exactly what I wanted.
Because I struggled to “see” the possible designs, Michael drew options, allowing me to narrow down the choices. Once we agreed on a design, Michael presented me with a wax-mold ring and had me return to his store to understand better how everything would look. At that appointment, he gave additional suggestions to improve the overall look and fit of the ring, which helped me “see” the design.
When I went to pick up my ring, it was a bit too large, even though we had custom-sized it. That was not a problem for Michael. He resized it to make the ring sit perfectly on my hand. The final result was more than I could have asked for; it’s a work of art. The ring is absolutely stunning!

I brought a precious watch that I inherited from my great aunt in to have it extended because it was too small. Mike is awesome to work with and very personable, as was his staff. Doing due diligence, I also contacted other jewelers as well for comparisons. All the other jewelers said, "It couldn't be done," and refused to do it. I'm so glad they did because Mike is a perfectionist to the enth degree and the watch looks great and sized perfectly after one minor adjustment (which Mike happily performed to ensure it was a perfect fit).
