We're making waves with a BRAND NEW speaker series, trading the lecture hall for the open water! 🛥️⚓️🌊 All aboard the iconic paddleboat, the Tahoe Gal, for a dinner cruise and an intimate presentation with a subject matter expert.

This month, the Tahoe Gatekeepers Museum's Archive Manager, Nancy Stromswold, will take us back to the Tahoe era before modern roads lined the shores... From the 1860s through the 1930s, Lake Tahoe was the primary highway for everything, from mail and groceries to logs and tourists!
Experience the legacy of the lake from the very waters that once served as its most vital connection.

Some of our local heroes have been recognized with the 23rd Annual Director's Recognition Award, which honors the passion, tenacity, and innovative contributions of California State Park employees, volunteers, and park partners. A huge congratulations to Scott Green for the Trailblazer Award for pioneering new ways to introduce the public to California’s outdoors, and to Lake Sector First Responders Logan Conner, Brooke Fellers, and Taylor Jackson for the Special Act or Service Award for their courageous actions in the capsized boat rescue mission in June 2025.

Be one of the first knowledgeable and friendly faces park visitors meet as our Visitor Center Ambassador ($23/hour), or provide engaging tours at the historical Pine Lodge and/or Vikingsholm Castle as a Tour Guide ($26/hour).

Housing may be available, as well as an end-of-season bonus. Training is provided, and we'll be conducting rolling interviews.

Great news! The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California announced that it has completed the purchase of more than 10,000 acres of ancestral land in the Sierra Nevada, marking the largest tribal land return ever completed in the mountain range and the third largest in California. 🌄

Tribal leaders and conservation partners said the acquisition restores ecologically significant Washoe homelands to tribal ownership and represents a major step toward addressing generations of displacement.
