The Valhalla Renaissance Faire is an exciting annual event in the woods at Camp Richardson. Visitors can immerse themselves in Elizabethan culture as they are surrounded by actors portraying the lowliest peasant of the era up to the Queen herself. Dressing to fit the time period is encouraged but not mandatory, and booths on site offer clothes for purchase or rent. There is ample entertainment for kids and adults alike, from jousting to jugglers, storytellers to puppeteers. Faire goers can also choose activities meant to evoke the historical period including riding on a giant rocking horse, competing in a scavenger hunt, practicing archery or having their hair braided. Partake in the delicious food at a good variety of food booths (lines can get long, so try to avoid purchasing food at a typical lunchtime). Shoppers will stay happy as they meander from stall to stall where vendors sell their wares such as jewelry, leather-bound journals, knives, toys, pirate goods and art. A fun way to spend the day with family and friends, this event takes place during the first weekend of June each year.
