One recent trend in creativity is that of makerspaces, places in the community where people can come together and create, explore, learn and invent. They are sometimes described as a community center with tools, and there is a Truckee-Tahoe makerspace in the Roundhouse, located at the airport. The Roundhouse is a nonprofit organization designed to provide a makerspace in a wide range of disciplines and has shops for wood, metal, textiles, technology and ceramics. Members are able to use the shops and tools to work on their own projects. The Roundhouse also has a full schedule of classes and instructional demos for those who want to learn more about this community makerspace's offerings.
