It doesn’t get much cuter than sending hundreds of rubber duckies careening down a river on a warm summer day. No, this isn’t an episode of Sesame Street. It’s the Humane Society of Truckee’s annual Truckee Duckee Derbee. Participants purchase one ducky or many duckies and then race them to the finish line. Winning duckies earn their sponsors a cash prize. Just watching those cute rubber creatures working hard to make it to the finish line might make you work up an appetite, and the barbecue and cold drinks offered at the event can satisfy. And don’t forget to bring your stylish dog to participate in the Dogs in Dudz Costume Contest. This Lake Tahoe annual event is family friendly, so bring your whole crew for an afternoon celebrating animals in the great outdoors. All proceeds from this event benefit the Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe. It's usually held in early June, so grab your duck and dog and come join this afternoon of silly fun.
