The Tough Mudder is more than an obstacle course — it’s a concoction of physical skills, adrenaline, sheer willpower and a dose of madness. This 10- to 12-mile course in Truckee is bursting with zany obstacles, some even relating to mud, ice, fire and electric shocks. It encourages physical activity and team building, and swimming fundamentals are necessary to participate in this event. Course details are not released until two weeks before the event because it’s meant to have as much surprise as possible. You can face the course as an individual participant or with a team where you and your friends cheer each other on from start to finish. The Tough Mudder is not just a race; it's a time to enjoy being outdoors and working together with others. Upon completing the course participants enjoy a well-deserved cold beer while listening to fun music. Costumes are encouraged, with an award ceremony for them at the end, including an award for Most Likely To Have Been In The Village People. Tough Mudder is a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, so you’ll be having fun for a great cause. If you’re ready to take on the Tough Mudder, go ahead and register yourself and your team, and get ready for the adventure of the summer! This Lake Tahoe annual event is usually held in mid June.
