Harveys Wagon Wheel Saloon and Gambling Hall was the first casino built at South Shore and was named for its owner, Nevada gaming pioneer Harvey Gross. Today we know Harveys as the hotel casino on the lake side of the casino corridor, right on the state line. Despite being the most senior of the South Tahoe casinos, Harveys has a rock ‘n’ roll streak, as evidenced by being the location of Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina and the Hard Rock Café as well as hosting the Summer Concert Series in the outdoor amphitheater. There are other food options at the resort, including the Straw Hat Sports Bar & Grille and upscale dining at 19 Kitchen & Bar and the Sage Room steakhouse. The casino provides fun for the adults, while the arcade offers more age-appropriate gaming for kids. Other on-site activities include an outdoor pool, a fitness center and an indoor golf simulator. This is also where you’ll find the only comedy club at the south end of the lake, The Improv at Harveys, hosted by Howie Nave.
