One of those venerable South Tahoe eateries that has transitioned well into the present is the Driftwood Cafe. It was originally established in 1960 adjacent to the Driftwood Lodge, and the current owners purchased it in 1999. Redevelopment in the city forced a change in location, and the home-style cafe is now open in the Heavenly Village. They serve a creative and eclectic menu for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast can include Wacky Waffles or Outrageous Omelettes, while lunch runs the gamut from burgers and fish tacos to sandwiches and chili. The soups are available in a sourdough bread bowl, and the coffee is locally roasted. To make ordering simple, Driftwood Cafe offers online ordering and curbside pickup.
