When it comes to community, one of the blessings is coming together to support each other's strengths and attributes. This is the premise behind the creation of Mountain Arts Collective, located in the Train Depot in historic downtown Truckee. Created by three local artists, Mountain Arts Collective is a gallery that highlights the artisan craftsmanship of many local artists. The welcoming space offers beautiful handcrafted treasures like the age-old traditional weaving ways of the Navajo, Andean Pebble Weaving and Kumihimo, the art of Japanese braiding. The shop also offers stunning nature-inspired woodwork, jewelry, modern art, eye-catching photography, glass art and hand-knitted shawls. Beyond these magnificent items, the store also becomes a showcase for a specific local artist each month, giving opportunity to see the full spectrum of their unique artistic gifts.
