You better watch out, you better not cry 'cause Santa Claus is coming to Truckee to kick off the holiday festivities before his big visit on Christmas Eve. On a Friday evening in late November, you can come together with the rest of the community in downtown Truckee to light the giant Christmas tree and welcome the jolly ol’ elf himself. The evening festivities at this Lake Tahoe annual event commence with elementary school children decorating the Christmas trees lining Donner Pass Road. Santa Claus then arrives to oversee the lighting of the tree in the Train Depot Courtyard and invites children to sit on his lap for pictures and to discuss Christmas wishes. While enjoying the events, you can sip on hot chocolate and munch on Christmas cookies. Listen to the cheerful tunes sung by carolers, and even join in to sing a few too. This Lake Tahoe annual event is a Christmas celebration that you won’t want to miss.
