While Crescent Cafe is inside the New Moon Natural Foods store in Truckee, don’t write the cafe off as a place suitable for those who only eat veggies. Sure, the salad bar uses only organic produce and the soup bar always has vegan and dairy-free selections, but there are soups with meat, and it will be antibiotic and hormone-free. The sandwich menu is vast and varied. Try the Yellow Submarine with grilled wild-caught tuna salad, melted Jack cheese and tomatoes on sourdough. You also have choices like the vegan Maggie's Farm with roasted red bell peppers, marinated eggplant and pesto on ciabatta bread. All sandwiches can be made on gluten-free bread.
