Casa Baeza is old Truckee at its best: unpretentious, straightforward and partial to a strong adult beverage. The family-owned Mexican restaurant serves the standard staples like fajitas, enchiladas, rellenos, tacos and a variety of specialties such as steak ranchero. Prices are affordable. A little-known tidbit about Casa Baeza is that it serves breakfast dishes all day. So if you’re dealing with a hangover, it’s a great place for a hearty order of huevos rancheros or huevos con chorizo. The breakfast tip may even need to be followed up on after a night at Casa Baeza’s bar, which is stocked with an impressive array of tequilas, some of which you may have never seen or tasted before. If in town around the Fourth of July, look for Casa Baeza’s annual street party with great Mexican music, food and drink right in front of the restaurant.
