There is no missing Boreal Mountain Resort. Its ski and snowboard runs are visible right off Interstate 80 at the 7,200-foot Donner Summit. It’s also always proud to announce being the first Tahoe-area resort to open each winter. Boreal’s core customers are two-fold: terrain park shredders or those learning to ski or ride. With its modest vertical elevation, Boreal’s managers have dialed in the park to be terrain-park heaven. The resort’s Neff Land has more than 30 rideable features. There is also a 13-foot pipe as well as a bag jump for those wanting to perfect their aerial moves. For those new to the snow, there is a learning area with an 80-foot and a 200-foot moving carpet for those who’ll need multiple, quick practice runs. And if strapping something to your feet and hurtling downhill isn’t your idea of fun, Boreal offers Playland Tubing for snow-play enthusiasts. Boreal serves up 41 trails on 380 rideable acres. The mountain is accessible via six lifts, including one express quad, and is open nightly through the season. Boreal is also home to Woodward Tahoe, an indoor action sport-training facility.
