Saint Patrick’s Day celebrates all the wonderful aspects of Irish culture, but did you know that at South Lake Tahoe it also celebrates local firefighters and police who serve the community. The Rotary Club has held the annual Tahoe Douglas Rotary’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration for more than 40 years. Participants get to enjoy a full Irish dinner buffet that goes beyond just ham and cabbage as well as an open wine bar, dancing and a silent auction. The auction features items such as packages to ski and golf resorts, tickets to local eateries, trips and more. The best part is that all proceeds from the auction go to projects that support the local community, including scholarships, grants and other projects. This Lake Tahoe annual event is usually held in mid-March.
