Tahoe XC is a year-round, nonprofit, recreational area offering 50+km of groomed Nordic ski and snowshoe trails in the winter and access to hundreds of miles of mountain biking, hiking, and trail running in the summer. They are located 2 miles north of Tahoe City just off Highway 28.
Since 1999, the community-based nonprofit has upheld its mission to promote a healthy, outdoor-oriented lifestyle for children and adults through education, cross-country skiing, and other self-powered recreation.
Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Education Association (TCCSEA) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that holds the concession agreement with Tahoe City Public Utility District (TCPUD), who maintains permits to use California Tahoe Conservancy and California State Parks land. TCCSEA develops and offers free and affordable community ski programs for skiers of all ages, weekly clinics and lessons, and friendly and supportive staff, Tahoe XC is the perfect access point for exploring Tahoe's vast backyard.
Winter Trails & Rentals
Rent cross-country skis (skate and classic) and snowshoes for the whole family, as well as pulk sleds to comfortably tow small children. Our grooming is world-class and covers 50+ kilometers of trails, as well as 8 kilometers of dog-friendly trails. Ski through towering pine forests to access idyllic views of Lake Tahoe. Rest in 3 trailside huts with free hot chocolate, tea, water, and picnic tables. At the Lodge, eat lunch at the Free Heel Café, purchase clothing and ski accessories, and meet friends on the sunny deck.
Summer Trails & Rentals
Summertime brings wildflowers and an intricate multi-use trail system with epic views of Lake Tahoe. Trailhead mountain bike rentals for adults and kids are available right from the parking lot. Hikers, walkers, trail runners, and dog owners are encouraged to park at the Lodge and access summer trails free of charge. The Lodge offers light refreshments, bike gear, and repair tools in case you forgot anything.
