Tahoe XC is a year-round recreational area that offers 65km of groomed Nordic ski and snowshoe trails in the winter and access to hundreds of miles of mountain biking, hiking and trail running in the summer. We are located 2 miles north of Tahoe City just off Highway 28.
Affordable ski packages, trail passes, and ski rentals for the whole family are available in winter. We offer free, drop-in ski lessons weekly because we want everyone to enjoy winter sports as much as we do. In the summer, we rent adult and kids mountain bikes and support the multi-use trail system that is Tahoe’s backyard.
Since 1999, Tahoe Cross-Country has been a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote a healthy, outdoor-oriented lifestyle for children and adults through education, cross-country skiing, and other self-powered recreation. Whether you are visiting or residential, we have multiple subsidized youth education programs designed to get kids outside.
Winter Trails & Rentals
Rent skate skis, classic cross-country skis and snowshoes for the whole family, as well as pulk sleds to comfortably tow small children. Our grooming is world-class and covers 65 kilometers of trails, as well as 8 kilometer of dog-friendly trails. Ski through towering pine forests to access idyllic views of Lake Tahoe. Pass three trailside huts and stop for some free hot chocolate, tea, water and picnic tables. At the Lodge, enjoy lunch at the Free Heel Café, purchase clothing and ski accessories, and meet friends on the sunny deck.
Summer Trails & Rentals
Summertime brings wildflowers and an intricate multi-use trail system with epic views of Lake Tahoe. We offer trailhead mountain bike rentals for adults and kids. We encourage hikers, walkers, trail runners and dog owners to park at our Lodge and use our summer trailhead free of charge.
