What’s on your Tahoe City shopping wish list? If you can’t find it at one of the numerous boutiques, sports shops, clothing stores or general stores, you aren’t looking.
The slower pace of the Tahoe City area is evidenced by the absence of big shopping malls and endless strip malls. Instead, you can appreciate all the Tahoe City stores owned by locals that you won’t find anywhere else! At bike shops you can rent or buy a new mode of transportation, like an easy-to-pedal cruiser. Prefer the water? Visit one of our small town marinas that are stocked with items you need for your boat — or they’ll be happy to help you buy a new one. You only live once, right? Souvenirs top many a Tahoe City shopping adventure. Private label salsa, anyone? That’s a fun taste of Lake Tahoe to bring back to friends at home. And, sure, you can get a post-cruise beer here, but fine liquor is also available. Local Tahoe City stores also include everything wearable for Lake Tahoe fishing, hiking and goofing off.
And no amount of snow or sun will disturb your Tahoe City shopping experience, thanks to Boatworks Mall, the only enclosed indoor mall in North Lake Tahoe. Load up on books, chocolates, wines, children's toys and more.
Tahoe City Shopping is Walkable
Tahoe City shopping is mostly walkable along the main street and smaller roads that branch off it. Orient to the chime of Cobblestone Center’s clock tower then fan out from there. In one shop you’ll discover new duds for the little ones, in another will be healthy treats for your favorite dog. Across the street you’ll wander around a shop with beautiful home furnishings and gifts, then along the way you’ll find antiques, homemade bath products, jewelry, paintings and other hand-crafted items. Pieces crafted by local artisans are favorites among many Tahoe City shoppers. Museums supply a cultural twist to other local shopping options. Galleries, private and cooperative, provide more Lake Tahoe artwork.
