Lake Tahoe is rich in maritime heritage, and this became a main focus in the mid-1980s for a handful of people who created a nonprofit to help increase the knowledge of this important aspect of the area. This grew into a 5,600-square-foot museum that showcases the various aspects of how Lake Tahoe and maritime interaction has been a key player in the creation of the community. Within the museum you will find full-scale boats, interactive displays and historical photographs and movies explaining the intertwining of watercraft, Lake Tahoe and the people who live here.
