The Tahoe Biltmore, established in 1946, has managed to maintain its vintage decor and atmosphere over the decades — in its casino, restaurant and rooms — and to house a resident ghost named Mary since the 1960s. The Bilty has more than 100 affordable rooms and suites in the main hotel (some pet friendly) and a few cottages overlooking the lake. The casino, where the biggest jackpot in Lake Tahoe history was won, is host to 200-plus slot and video poker machines, table games including blackjack, roulette and craps as well as a sports book. If you’re not into gaming, check out the swimming pool, Jacuzzi or arcade or get a bite at one of the on-site restaurants. Bars throughout the Biltmore host happy hour every afternoon and nightly from 1 to 4 a.m. If you happen to be up that late, watch out for the ghost of Mary. She just might be roaming the halls.
