Log Cabin Caffe is one of the oldest and most popular breakfast restaurants in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and it’s still family-run by the original owners. Housed in a genuine cabin warmed by fireplaces, the walls are decorated with antique snowshoes, photographs, artwork and handicrafts. Delicious aromas and bustling activity fill the kitchen early in the morning as they do all their baking on-premises, make their hollandaise sauce and gravy from scratch and squeeze their juices fresh every day. Home-style breakfasts include several scrambles, Benedicts and waffle dishes, but they’re best known for their Cajun Benedict topped with spicy blackened shrimp and a Cajun hollandaise. In the summer months Log Cabin offers patio dining under the pines and opens an ice cream shop in the back. On weekends and pretty much all summer the wait for a table can be long. They don’t take reservations, but you can call ahead to put your name on a waiting list. Log Cabin Caffe is open daily for breakfast and lunch.
